Recovery and Rehabilitation
Recovery time and rehabilitation depend on the type of surgery performed. As with all surgeries, there are some risks and possible complications including infection, excessive bleeding, blood clots, and damage to blood vessels or nerves.
After surgery, it is natural to feel some pain, but this is usually managed adequately with medication and icing. A sling should be worn at all times after surgery for a duration that is specific to the type of surgery. The sling can be removed during physical therapy and to do exercises on your own at home. You will follow a very specific physical therapy routine that progresses in difficulty as your range of motion improves.
