Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon
Background
Dr Manjunatha Kandala is a neurosurgeon and spine surgeon at Health City Cayman Islands. He has assisted or independently performed more than 1,500 surgeries in different subspecialties of neurosurgery, such as pediatric, vascular, neuro-oncology, skull base, functional, endoscopic neurosurgery and Spine surgery.
Dr Manjunatha has performed the following cranium surgeries under supervision/independently: foramen magnum decompression, which involves removing small parts of the base of the skull and sometimes the top of the spine to alleviate pressure on the cerebellum; ventriculo peritoneal shunt to drain extra cerebrospinal fluid from the brain; endoscopic third ventriculostomy, a surgical procedure that creates a bypass for the cerebrospinal fluid in the head that eliminates the need for a shunt; surface glioma decompression; excision of convexity meningioma; anterior cranial fossa base repair for CSF rhinorrhea; Craniotomy and clipping of ruptured intracerebral aneurysms, Craniotomy and evacuation of Subdural/ extra dural hematomas, Decompressive Craniectomy, Cranioplasty.
He has also worked on various spine surgeries including micro discectomy, minimally invasive microdiscectomy, Artificial disc replacement surgeries, decompressive laminectomy, spinal fusion, traumatic spinal injuries, spinal tumors, and congenital malformations. He also performs lumbar spinal steroid injections.
He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from PES Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India in 2008, followed by his Diplomate of National Board in Neurosurgery in New Delhi in 2017.
