Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. Lopez Mendoza is board certified in plastic surgery by the Mexican Council of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is an active member of the Mexican Association of Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Background


Dr. Lopez Mendoza currently devotes most of his practice to cosmetic surgery and reconstructive microsurgery. He has extensive experience in the reconstruction of the hand and microsurgical management of lymphedema. Dr. Mendoza trained at Dr. Manuel Gea González General Hospital and is now an assistant professor of plastic surgery there. He has also obtained the certificates from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and other international institutions.

His training at General Dr. Manuel Gea González Hospital provided additional experience in all techniques of microsurgical reconstruction of peripheral nerves, breast, head and neck. He completed subspecialty training at the Hospital "12 de Octubre" in Madrid, Spain within their facial skeleton division. Finally, he sought additional training in microsurgery and reconstructive surgery for lymphedema at the University of Tokyo, Japan under the tutelage of Dr. Isao Koshima who is considered the father of lymphatic surgery.

Along with his practical and academic duties, Dr. Mendoza is also a member of several professional organizations, including:

  • Association of Residents and former residents of Dr. Fernando Ortiz Monasterio

In 2009 Dr. Mendoza won an award from the Mexican Society of Quality and Safety in Health Care for his academic research on "the surgical approach to therapeutic body contouring in patients with massive weight loss." This paper proposed a strategy to reduce the risks associated with cosmetic surgery patients who wanted to improve their physical appearance. His work has also appeared in publications as well as national and international book chapters, posters, and oral presentations playing a wide range of issues of plastic surgery. He shares his expertise on these issues through presentations, seminars and meetings in hospitals and medical schools in the country.

However altruistic side is not forgotten. Dr. Mendoza has offered his extensive clinical experience on several occasions with different organizations. Among them are "On the Mountain States" in Guerrero, "Blue House" in Metro Manila, "Changing Smiles" in Tamaulipas, and "Carita Feliz" in Guanajuato.
